I have been told that Mountain Repast is one of my best efforts. It was one of those memory paintings, from my 18 years of living in Colorado and the many trips in the back country with backpack. It was started, then spent a couple years in the closet, then finished with gusto at a later date. There is lots of detail in this painting. It is one of my favorites too.

"Flatiron" Original Oil $ 850.00
16" x 20" Oil on Clayboard
The idea for this painting came from a visit to the John Deere Historical site, in Grand DeTour, Illinois. I was there for an art show years ago and took a photo from inside the orginal Deere home. This is where Mr. Deere set up his first Blacksmith shop after traveling west. I remember seeing this curtain fabric in days long by, and fondly remember as a child playing with my grandmothers old flatirons that she kept on the woodstove.

"Ponca Valley" Original Oil Painting $ 1800.00
Two 30" x 40" Panels, Oil on Linen on Gallery Wrap Support
Northwest Arkansas is one of our favorite places to go visit, explore and vacation. I used to paint on location in this area as often as I could. This scene is on the just west of Ponca, Arkansas along the Buffalo River en route to Steel Creek. I drove this route many times and always marveled at the barn roof always reflecting off the pond. This was an early morning sunrise.

"Rocky Fork in Winter" Original Oil Painting
SOLD ! Thank you Judy.
18" x 24" Oil on Canvas
This was a scene from the ranch I managed NE of Kansas City from about 1990 to 1996. This is when I first began painting. I had been out checking cattle and took a photo of this scene. It was a hard painting for me. The colors were difficult to get to match my memory. Sunsets in winter change so rapidly that you have to rely on ONLY your memory. This creek ran through the ranch and was a sourse for many paintings.

"Timeless" Original Oil Painting (Sold)
24" x 18" Oil on Canvas Prints are available - call or email
This is the painting that I consider to be my best painting ever - technically speaking. It has the "illusion of detail" that I have strived for of late. Rather than labor at detail - bold brush strokes and unmolested color came together on this one.

"MoonGlow" Oil Painting ( Sold)
12" X 16" Original Oil on Canvas
I just had to put this one on the website, because of a little story that goes with it. I was in Grand DeTour Illinois doing an outdoor art show. This painting was on display. Well, this nice little elderly lady, kinda short with white hair kept coming back to look at this painting. It was a busy show and I never could get away to visit with here. In the afternoon she came back again and walked directly to the painting and was intently enjoying it with a gleam in her eye. I excused myself this time and walked over to talk to her. O, My I love this painting, she said, but I just cant afford it. I think it was priced at $150. I asked her what made it so special to her. So she related this story to me.
She said that where she lived at the edge of town, there was a pasture behind her house. And, that this old white mare had been in the pasture for years. It usually just stood around with her head held low, doing little of nothing. She had been put out to pasture to live out her years. But, just yesterday she said, I looked out the window and that ol' white horse was running as fast as she could all over the pasture, with her tail over her back, just having a great time. The lady, with this twinkle in her wet eyes looked me in the eye and said " I shouted to her - You go for it old girl ". After I regained my composure I told her that if she really wanted this painting she could have it for $75. She clasp her hands over her mouth and was delighted, saying she may be back. Low and behold a little latter she came back with a wad of ones, fives and quarters and bought that painting. Again, later that day, one of the local people I knew stopped by and I related the story, and was indeed told that they knew whom this lady was and the money she had brought was probaly her bread money, as she had limited means of support. Ever so often in Art, things like this brings a tear to my eye and makes the creating all that much more special.
